Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day is a festival that cherishes love and romance. The festival falls on February 14 every year and is celebrated in several countries across the world including US, UK, Canada, Japan, France, China and India. Though the festival commemorates the martyrdom of a Christian saint called St Valentine, the festival as it is celebrated today has little religious significance. In present times, Valentine's Day has assumed a secular and global flavor and is celebrated by people of all ages and races.People exchanges Valentine's Day greetings with their parents, teachers, siblings, friends, sweethearts or anyone special or close to them. The commonest way of expressing love on Valentine's Day is through exchanging cards, flowers and chocolates.

Valentine's Day History and Legends
The romantic festival of Valentine's Day is said to have originated in pagan times in Rome when people celebrated annual fertility festival called Feast of Lupercalia in mid-February. A unique custom of the festival was the mating of young boys and girls for a year through a lottery system. Quite often the couple would fall in love and marry.

Strongly associated with the festival of Valentine's Day are the legends of three or more Saint Valentine of Rome. One of the most popular legends says, Valentine or Valentinus lived in Rome when the country was under the reign of Emperor Claudius II. It is said that Claudius engaged Rome in several unpopular and bloody campaigns. To maintain a strong army, Claudius continuously needed to recruit soldiers. But to his disappointment Claudius found that most men were unwilling to join army because of their strong attachment with their wives and their families. To get rid of the problem, Claudius banned all marriages and engagements in Rome. A romantic at heart priest, Valentine, secretly arranged marriages of young boys and girls and defied this unjustified and callous order of Claudius. When the Emperor discovered this defiance, he put Valentine behind bars and he was finally executed on February 14, about 270 AD. For his great service, Valentine was named a saint after his death.

By Middle Ages, Saint Valentine became the patron saint of love and lovers in England and France. In 498 AD, when Pope Gelasius decided to put an end to pagan celebration of Feast of Lupercalia, he declared that 14th February be celebrated as St Valentine's Day. Some scholars however, say, romance was linked with Valentine's Day because of the popular belief in England and France during the Middle Ages that birds began to start looking for their mate from 14th February.

Valentine's Day Traditions and Customs
One of the most important customs of Valentine's Day festival is the exchange of love notes called ‘Valentines' by lovers. The tradition is said to have initiated in 1415 by Charles, Duke of Orleans who sent the first known Valentine Day card to his wife from prison. In present times, Valentine's Day is the second biggest Valentine's Day card-giving holiday after Christmas. There is also the tradition of gifting flowers, chocolates besides other gifts of love on Valentine's Day as an expression of love. Going on a date with one's Valentine is another popular tradition of Valentine's Day festival. Candle light dinners or evening together in a park are an all-time favorite dating idea in present times.

Valentine's Day Celebration
Valentine's Day is celebrated in a big way in several countries across the globe. Days before the festival markets wear a festive look. Shops selling gifts and cards are especially decorated with Valentine's Day symbols of roses, hearts, cupids and lovebirds. Aggressive marketing campaign by cards and gift marketers create hype for the festivals. On February 14, the spirit of love pervades the very atmosphere. One can find couples thronging parks, restaurants, malls and multiplexes holding hands and expressing love for each other.

Frustration

The actions of men are the best interpreter of their thoughts." Said somebody. I saw you perfectly clearly. You were walking in a magnificently beautiful garden. You walked rejoicing under the arches of trees laden with fruits of gold. But suddenly, you took a different direction and you left the magnificent garden.

I saw you then wandering in a dark, gray land, bathed in a thick fog. The effect is that you have been seriously polluted in spite of you by the radiation of harmful negative waves. The negative waves of frustration which have lead you to downfall and deviations which have wasted your precious thinking, ability and attention which otherwise would have been used elsewhere in constructive or creative work. I know the frustration of your hopes and your troubles. The frustration which is caused due to the falsity and invidious position of the world. You felt like there's nothing left to pick you up back into the world. You must know that there is always an answer to those problems, but that every cause of a problem finds its own solution in a different way. There is no fear of tomorrow, for you know in advance what future holds for you keep living out your life as usual with very little hope of seeing any change. Let the oceans overflow to inundate you with joys and happiness,

Those negative waves called frustration is an emotion or the state of mind that occurs in situations where one is blocked from reaching a personal goal. The more important the goal, the greater the frustration. It is comparable to aggression. In some cases, it might lead to obsession or addiction. Frustration should be regarded as a useful indicator of the problems in a person's life, in order to regain balance, and when the individual is observed with open-mindedness and tolerance, his emotions may prove to represent problems in the society as a whole. Frustration occurs in a time where hope is lost where people wont find any way to get out of the problem and just walks in the darkness searching for the beam of light. Frustration leads a person to a total loss of control of mind.

Mostly our outbursts are the results of others behavior. When others behavior blocked or thwarted to reach the goal, frustration is the common reaction in such a situation. Unpleasant feelings or thoughts may trigger negative thoughts and memories leading to frustration. If there is injustice or unfair thwarting, frustration can become a powerful cause of aggression. Sources of frustration may be internal or external. Internal sources of frustration involve personal deficiencies such as a lack of confidence or fear of social situations that prevent one from reaching a goal. Conflict can also be an internal source of frustration when one has competing goals that interfere with one another. Direct provocation from other is also another source of frustration External causes of frustration involve conditions outside the person such as a blocked road or a lack of money or something else. There are different kinds of frustration which happens in human's life. Sexual frustration, education frustration, job frustration, family frustration and so on have been running along in the pathways of a person.

Like the law of physics, "To every action there is an equal but opposite reaction". It is said that the easiest way to find something lost around the house is to buy a replacement. Therefore for every kind of frustration, there are its own methods of dealing with it but in a different way. Passive aggressive behavior can be one way for the elimination of frustration. So we all should get dealt with every kind of frustrations that comes in our way rather escaping from it. The road to get success in life is dotted with many tempting parking places. Frustration, although quite painful at times, is a very positive and essential part of success. Life is not an easy matter. You can not live through it without falling into frustration.

Me Married To Salman?

A report in a Marathi paper that she's married has the actress incredulous with disbelief.

"It's complete rubbish and the paper is denying it. When I marry the world will know. Right now I've no such plans."

But she isn't denying that she's with Salman. In fact one of her abiding regrets is that she and Salman have not been able to form a saleable pair on screen. Katrina had hoped Yuvraaj would work, so that she and Salman would be a saleable pair and filmmakers would sign her with Salman as eagerly as they do with Akshay Kumar and Ranbir Kapoor.

Apparently Subhash Ghai kept writing the script as the film progressed.

After a pause Katrina says, "I'd like to stick to a bound script from now on. The time has come for the entire film industry to get completely organized. A script helps both the director and the actor to connect wth each other and with the plot. I'm not going to be shy about insisting on a script.

Tell her she had very little space in Yuvraaj, and Katrina admits, "Yeah, that was something I grew gradually aware of. I didn't have that much to do. But that's okay."

Katrina's sister Isabel is not getting into Bollywood. Not right now.

Says Katrina, "That was something which was blown out of all proportions. At the moment she's too young to take up an acting career. In fact my sister is off to drama school. Something I never got to do, and I wish I had. Not being a trained actress bothers me me and I am happy that my sister is taking that route."

However, not attending school doesn't make Katrina feel inadequate as an actress. "I think I had to undertake my own journey and do things my own way. I learnt on the job. I think I've acquired knowledge of the camera on-camera.

So no regrets about not attending any acting school. If I had regrets about any aspect of my career I'd be the most ungrateful person on the planet. Look at the level of acceptance I've received in so little time. Some people don't get this kind of success after working all their lives."

Katrina is nonchalant about not being considered a lucky mascot any more after the failure of Yuvraaj. "I think that's just people talking a lot of nonsense. Actors far more intelligent and talented than me have had to deal with ups and downs. Sooner or later I'd have had to deal with failure. No point in brooding about it. I've learnt my lessons from the Yuvraaj experience."

Commenting on the constant speculation on their relationship Katrina says, "That's bound to happen. If you're a public figure and at the end of the day neither of the party is clarifying anything, there's bound to be a lot of speculation and unnecessary comment. But I'm not going to get provoked into giving explanations. Because once they start, they never end."

What about that damning picture of Katrina with her face covered as she entered her birthday party last year?

"That wasn't when I entered the party. The picture was atken was while we were leaving. I was tired….and yes, I was disappointed. I didn't want it to be turned into tamasha. It wasn't meant that to be.

I realize I can't be talked about only for my work. You can't have things exactly the way you want them to be. You can't have fans and now get blown away by the breeze once in a while."

Improve yourself to be success in life

What does success means to you? For you, may be success is about making a lot of money, being a millionaire, as a CEO of a successful company, and more. For other people, success can mean having a perfect relationship, slim body, good health, having a great job, a supportive family and live a happy life. Well, no matter what definition of success means to you, there is one thing that is true for all, and that is you cannot achieve success instantly.

Learning is the most crucial step in achieving success in your life. If you want to be successful today, learn throughout your life and apply what you have learned If you stop learning today, you stop your personal growth. Without growing, you will never improve, you will never learn and of course, you will never achieve what you want. So make sure you spend at least 30 minutes everyday to read and learn about your goals, your dreams, to improve in the areas that you want to be successful in.

Success is not a sprint, it is a marathon. It is not like you set your goals today, and you wake up the next day finding that you have become a millionaire. It is not like one day you wake up and you become the CEO of a highly successful company. Nothing happens automatically and nothing will improve if you keep your mind shut. In fact, it is only through learning, you will broaden your knowledge and expertise. When you are just a baby, the moment you see something on the floor, you will straight away pick it up and put it in your mouth. However, during the process of growing up, you learn all the way. Today, when you see a bug on the floor, will you still pick it up and put into your mouth? The same when you are just a kid, you learn how to ride a bicycle, falling down a few times and you will master it. So you see, learning is something a
"must" in your life.

Constant learning and improving will guarantee your success. If you think that you had known about everything, then you will never create any amazing results in your life. When you are clueless in something, spend some time learning about it. The more time you spend learning about it, the more expert you can be in that particular area.

Govt Asked to Book Singh's Murderers

Denouncing the murder of journalist Uma Singh, several political parties and human rights and media organisations flayed the government for failing to bring the murderers to the book and expressed condolence to the bereaved family. Singh was killed in Janakpur on Sunday night.
The Nepali Congress (NC) condemned the ruthless and shameful murder of Singh by an unidentified gang and the abduction of her father and brother by the Maoists three years ago.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, the NC said the government was neither taking any action against the culprits involved in the murder nor has it tried to search for her abducted kin. "The government has failed to provide security to the journalists," it added. "The government should provide compensation to her family and ensure severe punishment for the culprits."
The Sadabhavna Party has also flayed regular attacks on media and condemned Singh's murder. The party also expressed sympathy for the grieving family.
The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has said everybody in the country was insecure. Condemning Singh's murder, the RPP urged the government to ensure security in the country.
Nepal Bar Association, issuing a statement, said constant attacks on journalists and media houses were a sign of violation of press freedom. It denounced the merciless killing of Singh. "We appeal to all people to come together and fight against impunity and terror in the country," it said.
Deploring the murder, Nepal Media Society called on the government to provide compensation to Singh's family, and urged the government to penalise the guilty.
The Editors Society of Nepal also condemned the heinous act, which cannot be excused at any cost. It said it would not be enough no matter how much it is condemned.
The National Network of Weekly and Fortnightly Papers stated that the incident has posed a serious threat to the free press in the country. It asked the government to punish the guilty.Television Broadcasters Nepal, Nepal Press Institute, INSEC, Human Rights Organisation of Nepal and NGO Federation of Nepal also denounced the gruesome killing and expressed concerns about the rampage of criminal elements targeting mediapersons. They urged the government to provide security to journalists and end impunity.

Solar device gains at outage’s expense

The ongoing power woes — weekly outage has hit an all-time high of 108 hours from today —has led to a growing demand for installation of solar photo voltaic energy in the capital.
The concept is by and large similar to solar water heater. But lack of marketing and advertising drive has failed to strike a chord with consumers all these years.
“The demand is on the rise. But the pace is yet to pick up because the installation costs are quite high. At a conservative estimate, more than 30 companies are involved in this trade in urban areas. We are installing the device in one or two households daily. The cost depends on the electricity that the apparatus will generate,” explained Nabin Bhujel, chairperson, Solar Electricity Manufactures’ Association of Nepal.
Dr Govind Raj Pokharel, an energy expert, had converted to the solar photovoltaic energy cause eight years ago. His residence — he lives at Imadol in Lalitpur — boasts of 85-watt system, which had cost him around Rs 50,000. The average cost per watt works out to Rs 400-600.
“Usually, in urban households, the demand for electricity is high. Hence, the installation of the system will bring the much-needed relief,” said Pokharel.
Buoyed by the technology, the energy expert uses more than 10 fluorescent lamps, whose capacity range from three to seven watts, at his home. He can also watch television and work on his laptop during outage. The government has introduced sops — like exemption of sales tax, Value Added Tax and customs duty — for importing the equipment. The importers, however, have to comply with minimum standards set up by Nepal Interim Photo Voltaic Quality Assurance. Renewable Energy Test Station at Nepal Academy for Science and Technology also checks the compliance norms before consumers can lay their hands on it. “Consumers have become quality conscious since a number of cases have been reported, where fake certificates were planted to boost sales,” said Pokharel.
Raju Munakarmi, energy expert, Alternative Energy Promotion Centre, said the demand and supply would determine the viability of the concept.
“At present, the installation work, too, has been severely hampered due to frequent power cuts,” he said.
Solar energy can be utilised in two ways: water heater, solar dryer and solar cooker rely on thermal system. While, the solar photovoltaic system generates electricity through silicon cells once the sun rays hit the panels. Energy is stored in a battery, which has chemical energy. Inverter connected to the device converts Direct Current into Alternate Current.

PM’s fiat to cut power outages

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal today instructed five ministers to take immediate steps to resolve the major problems facing the country — power shortage, closure of factories and industries, transportation sector and law and order.
Prime Minister had called Home Minister Bam Dev Gautam, Finance Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai, Minister for Water Resources Bishnu Paudel, Minister for Labour and Transport Management Lekhraj Bhatta and Minister for Industries Asta Laxmi Shakya to his official residence this morning.
PM instructed Paudel to initiate action at the earliest possible to resolve the problem of power shortage, said Minister Bhatta. The Prime Minister’s fiat coincides with a 16-hour daily load-shedding that the Nepal Electricity Authority has enforced nationwide. The crisis has been triggered due to the receding water level in the rivers, which are generating only 230 MW, NEA said on Friday.
PM instructed Minister Shakya to implement the government’s decision to provide minimum wage of Rs 190 to labourers and make an immediate attempt to reopen the closed industries and stop capital flight.
PM also instructed ministers concerned to resolve the dispute and maintain law and order in all the sectors, especially the industries, road and transportation, Bhatta said.
Hundreds of factories and industries have been shut down due to the disputes between entrepreneurs and pro-Maoist trade unions, which have been demanding implementation of the minimum wage, and shortage of raw materials due to the transport strike. Dahal wants the Water Resources Minister to reduce load-shedding duration by checking leakage of electricity and by reviving the damaged power plants through repair and maintenance.
